Trained in Traditional Hatha Yoga, from Tantra yoga (systematised by Shiva 7000 years ago) and Patanjali Ashtanga (8 limbs) yoga. The major emphasis of traditional yoga is not only on toning the muscles and getting flexible - starting from the spine, so important under tons of aspects, not to mention the nervous system! - but especially on the impact that asanas have on nerves and glands, the overall energy in the body and mind, and building up our immune system.
Traditional yoga puts the emphasis in the gentle yet persistent flow of movement with breath awareness and breath holding. This makes the yoga poses, or asanas, exercise the glands and work on the nerves and meridians leading to a release of energy that makes us feel relaxed, calm, but vigorous at the same time. It also creates an effect that stays with you long after the session is over.
The Asanas – postures producing physical comfort and mental composure – as practised in Traditional Yoga not only will improve respiration, blood and lymph circulation, but also will balance vital energy (because, yes, we are energy too, and how fully it gets absorbed in the body and mind during the final relaxation in shavasana - corpse pose!) by relaxing the nerves (let's not forget they are connected to the glands and together with hormones are messengers to the brain), the spine and the pelvis (both so important for anything!) and muscles. And, last but not least, will put the mind at ease and ready for spiritual evolution if you wish. That was the first and foremost aim of traditional yoga at the time of Shiva.
Yoga and yoga philosophy can really make a change! I give you my word.
